An amazing explosion in technology now mean advances in aesthetic beauty to such an extent that a face and neck lift can be achieved without plastic surgery.

What is the technology called?  Ultherapy

Ultherapy has been designed with people in mind who have found that the years have caught up to them and their face and neck are showing signs of aging, like sagging of the skin.  Gravity is beginning to take over.

Ultherapy involves using ultrasound to specifically target the deep foundation below the skin - typically addressed in cosmetic surgery - without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin.

How does Ultherapy work?

As with other ultrasound procedures, a smooth applicator is placed upon your skin which shows the underlying tissues on a screen.  The applicator is used to deposit tiny amounts of focused ultrasound energy at just the right depth below the skin, while leaving the surface of your skin undisturbed.  Your skin's response to the ultrasound is to stimulate the growth of new collagen that helps strengthen the skin from within.

Does it Hurt?

There can be some discomfort while the ultrasound energy is being delivered, but it is temporary, and a positive signal that the collagen-building process has been initiated.

A major advantage to Ultherapy is that there is no downtime and so you are able to return to your normal activities right away.

A good doctor will offer you a numbing cream, that will numb your face, and therefore reduce any discomfort that you may feel.  The numbing cream is left on for 60 minutes and then the procedure is begun and may take between 45 - 60 minutes.

For most people, there is no bruising but the after effect is a feeling of a tightening of the skin.  There may be a little redness on the skin, but nothing obvious.

How many treatments does it take?

The beauty of Ultherapy is that after just one treatment the body's own regenerative response is stimulated, which will tighten and lift the skin over time.

Who is a good candidate?

A good candidate is a person with skin on the face or neck that has "relaxed" to the point of looking, and often feeling, less firm.

A lowered brow line or sagging skin on the eyelids, for instance, is often the first sign of "maturing" skin.

Typically those in their thirties and older who have mild to moderate skin laxity are candidates.

What kind of results can I expect?

The effects will build gradually over the course of two or three months, with further improvements occurring up to six months post-procedure.

Visible effects include a lifting and toning of sagging skin.  A noticeable lift of the brow line results in reduced skin laxity on the eyelid and a more open, youthful look to the eyes overall.  You will experience a firmer, better-fitting skin in the lower face and neck as well, such as along the jawline and under the chin, which can contribute to an overall "slimming" effect.

There is also an invisible result with the creation of new collagen and elastin that helps strengthen the skin from within.

How do you choose a doctor to perform the procedure and do you need a plastic surgeon?

It is not necessary to have a plastic surgeon to perform this procedure.

However, we would caution against using technicians or nurses for this procedure, as it could be questioned as to how much training they have had with the procedure.  As with all aesthetic procedures there is a right way and a wrong way to perform a procedure and it would not be advisable to let someone use this technology if they have not had the required training, or minimal training.

The dermotologists who perform this procedure for our clients and whom we recommend, have had years of training and experience behind them and are specialists in this technology.

If you are thinking of having this procedure, contact us today and we can organise a package with one of our highly experienced and trained doctors.
